Caicedo joins Ecuadorian Luis Canga, ********* midfielder Hiroaki Aoyama and Belgian left-back Anas Hamzaoui as international players, and the 22 year-old attacker arrives off the back of stints in Portugal and his native country. He played 30 games with Orsomarso SC in Colombia’s Categoría Primera B and found the net seven times across two seasons. According to football stats website Soccerway, Caicedo also turned out for FC Serpa in Campeonato de Portugal — a multi-tiered, fourth-tier competition in Portgual, and another football stats website Playmaker has records of him playing for Oriental and GS Loures. But there is very little other record or images of Caicedo’s career. Nonetheless, Glory football director Stan Lazaridis said Caicedo could be a hit with fans and praised his attacking style. “Cristian’s the kind of livewire player who puts bums on seats,” he said. “He’s versatile enough to play anywhere in the front four, he’s got pace and flair, loves to take players on and I can see him being a big hit with our supporters. “Having another quality option like Cristian in the final third is a huge plus for us.” Coach David Zdrilic said the new recruit had the potential to play a key role for Glory this season. “Cristian’s strength is attacking with pace in wide areas and he therefore fits perfectly into our playing style and philosophy,” he said.
