Francine weakens, moves inland after lashing Louisiana

Hurricane Francine has weakened to a Category 2 system after striking Louisiana and knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of utility customers, and sending a storm surge rushing into coastal communities.

As the system moved inland, crews began clearing roads and restoring electricity while neighbourhoods and businesses started cleaning up the mess. There were no reports of deaths or injuries, Governor Jeff Landry said.
