Astro **** MiniBoss Guide: How to Beat Nidhog

Wondering how to beat Nidhog, the charging boar in Astro ****? Well, we’re going to tell you everything you need to know, and also how to reach him in the first place! The game is a great trip down memory lane for fans of PlayStation IPs, and this level references one of the most iconic franchises from the company.

The level design is intended to reflect the frigid north and is a reference to Santa Monica’s most famous IP. Astro will be traversing some tough terrain, but he will have help from a former deity who will let him wield his iconic *******.

How to Reach Nidhog in Astro ****?

This boss can be found in the **** of War level, and the name itself is a very clear reference to **** of War. Callbacks to PlayStation IPs were expected when we got our first look at the new game, and Team ASOBI has put a lot of thought into developing these levels, and it shows in both the overt and subtle references found Astro ****.

**** of War begins with Astro landing on a cliffside using his glider. Make sure to grab the collectible on the rock jutting out of the ocean when flying down! Once you land on the cliff, there will be some enemies to take down and a snake **** to be freed from inside some rubble. This is another reference to Jörmungandr from **** of War, but there is a very overt reference just up ahead.

After raining the platforms and arriving at the large gate, Astro will come across a **** that is dressed very much like a Greek demigod lost in the Nordic wilds. This Kratos **** is also wielding a miniature version of the Leviathan Axe, which he then bestows upon Astro to complete the level. Astro can swing and throw this ******* to dispatch enemies and also affect the environment, just like the many other gadgets Astro acquires to beat other bosses in the game.

Up ahead, he will come across some platforms that have water spouts between them. Throwing the Axe at these spouts will freeze them, turning them into platforms. Just before Nidhog, you will need to freeze an entire waterfall and quickly climb over the frozen platforms before they crumble beneath you!

After climbing up front of the waterfall, you’ll be standing on a circular arena with several pillars surrounding you. The arena is meant to resemble the Council of Valkyrie location where Kratos and Atreus ****** Sigrun the Valkyrie Queen. However, instead of a winged messenger of Valhalla, Astro finds a large, round, slumbering pig.

Nidhog won’t be asleep for long though, as the player will need to chuck the Axe at his nose to wake him up. Once awake, Nidhog will charge at Atro, and the player will have to run around the boss to avoid damage. That’s why it’s important to keep space between yourself and this boss and make sure a pillar isn’t in your path that could stop you from moving freely.

When Nidhog charges past you, it will reach the arena boundary and stop there for a few seconds. This is your ******* window, as you will be able to throw your Axe at the metal strips on the pig’s back. Once the Axe lands, recall it to remove the strip from the body of the hog. Do this three times, and Nidhog will be stunned with a cable exposed.

Astro can then grab this cable and swing Nidhog around before throwing the pig into a massive block of ice in the back. Doing so will not only ******** the boss but also free one of the many ship parts encased in the ice, which will need to be cut out of its cold prison once the level has ended!
