38 Pound Cat Rescued After Being Fed a Diet of Cookies and Soup

Often, homeless and stray animals must survive on whatever they can find – or are given by humans – to eat. That was the case for Kroshik, a Russian cat found living in the basement of a hospital who was surviving on a diet of cookies and soup. Kroshik, which translates to “Crumbs,” weighed a shocking 38 pounds when he was rescued, and he was unable to walk because of it.

The New York Post reported on the orange cat’s rescue on Friday, September 6th. He was taken to Matroskin Shelter in Prem, Slovania, with the hopes of putting him on a diet and returning the plump cat to a healthier weight and size. The article said, “It’s believed that hospital staff enjoyed feeding him to the point where things went more than a little overboard.”
