Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate was announced all the way back in 2021, but there haven’t been updates about its development since the initial reveal. No release date or platforms have been confirmed for the game so far, but series creator Yuji Horii said that Square Enix is aiming for a simultaneous worldwide release.

The last mainline installment was 2018’s Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. Since its release, the series has seen several new entries in its spin-offs such as 2022’s Dragon Quest Treasures and 2023’s Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince.
