Perth Classic Car Show revs up tomorrow

Horsepower of a different variety will be showcased at Ascot Racecourse tomorrow, with fenders on the field at the Perth Classic Car Show presented by Shannons.

Some 100 member clubs from the Council of Motoring Clubs WA will take part in this year’s event, with more than 1000 vintage, classic, modern, rare sports and luxury cars on display, as well as hot rods, bikes, vintage buses and trucks, each telling a unique story from more than a century of automotive history.

A highlight will be a Best of British section paying homage to British automotive engineering. This theme is also a throwback to the origins of the event, which started in 1969 with five British motoring clubs showcasing their members’ cars in Kings Park.

Among the groups displaying vehicles will be the Lamborghini Club Australia, the Bus Preservation Society of WA, the Southern Districts Mini Club of WA, the R&S Series Valiant Car Club of Australia, the Mercedes-Benz Car Club of Western Australia, the EH Holden Car Club of WA, the Northern Steel Car Club, and the Historic Commercial Vehicle Club WA, which was founded in 2000 by like-minded people with an interest in the preservation and restoration of commercial and associated vehicles.

Perth car club community members and individual enthusiasts have also been encouraged to register and attend.

Completing the day, there will be live entertainment, trade stalls, activations and delicious food from Ascot Racecourse’s range of options. The venue’s licensed bars will also be open.

+ The Perth/Shannons Classic Car show runs from 10am-3pm.

+ Tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $12 for concession holders, with free entry for children under 16. You can buy tickets before the event via classiccarshow.com.au.

+ Attendees are welcome to bring their own picnic blankets and hampers into the venue. However, alcohol, barbecues and pets are not permitted.
