Dear Aunty,

I recently told my grown-up kids and ex-wife something I have long been denying to everyone, including myself — that I am gay. My ex and two of my kids have been very accepting and supportive but my youngest son, who is 18, has completely shut me out of his life, which is surprising given he has gay friends. Should I give him time and space to absorb and hopefully one day accept who I am or should I be trying to convince him I’m still the same person? The last thing I want to do is drive him further away.
