Max Payne Producer Believes He and Sam Lake Can Do Justice to a Movie Adaptation Despite Borderlands’ Colossal Recent ********

Max Payne is one of the few video game franchises that suffered a terrible fate when adapted into a motion picture film. The star power of Mark Wahlberg couldn’t save the movie from the backlash of the gaming community and the harsh reviews of the critics. Released a few years ago, it was a time when most video game adaptations were poorly made and ******* to capture the game’s core leading to a poor reception from fans and critics alike.

Scott Miller, a producer of the video game franchise felt disappointed with the adaptation released in 2008. Despite the mess, he thinks the game deserves a second chance in Hollywood.

Another Attempt to Remake Max Payne in Live-Action Could Work With Sam Lake

Alan Wake 2 director Sam Lake is seen spreading his wings as he establishes connections and friendships with other great visionaries. The director came out swinging with his latest project and proved he is a master of storytelling and has a unique understanding of how certain characters could work in a different medium.

and bring them on board as consultants. Collaborating with the people who worked on the source material is one way to guarantee a project’s authenticity, and to avoid deviating from the original script like what Fox did years ago that led to the film’s awful outcome.

When the Max Payne film was released and I saw it day one in 2008, I was instantly disappointed and super upset

Miller wrote a long and heartfelt tweet about his feelings once he saw the film on release day.

The story had changed dramatically from the original script we sold to FOX. The issue was that the film’s director revised the script such that it no longer resembled the game’s story

The executives of Fox must have grown ambitious and thought they could improve the provided script. Unfortunately, Hollywood had to learn the hard way and allowed a great video game franchise to suffer for its recklessness.

I think current Hollywood has reached a point of getting things right more often than not, so they’d likely be able to do Max Payne right if they tried again

Present video game adaptations have overcome the curse of being poorly adapted. The Last of Us was a success on HBO because the showrunner was a fan and brought in the original creator, something the filmmakers of Max Payne didn’t bother doing years ago.

And brought in people like me and Sam Lake as consultants.

The director is the face model of the titular character and was crucial to the development of earlier games.

Together, Miller and Lake could bring justice to a Max Payne film. Hollywood is starting to understand how to properly adapt these franchises without tarnishing the legacy of the source material.

Sam Lake Could Help Make the World Forget About the Awful Max Payne Adaptation

Lake is a great visionary and often finds inspiration in other great games. Perhaps he can make something work for a full-length motion picture.

Filmmakers and video game developers have a different array of understanding. Not everything can be faithfully adapted for several reasons; however, some might work with Lake and Miller’s input.

Miller was right to express his disappointment and his words must be heeded if another attempt would be made. He handed the filmmakers a script that they did not follow and inadvertently lost the film’s core.

Remedy Entertainment is gaining momentum at an unprecedented rate. Perhaps balancing between video games and movies could be the right approach for the company.
