Overnight, Nissan revealed a new generation of its

off-roader, and it’s the first to offer a rugged Pro-4X variant.

The Y63-series Patrol and Armada are virtually identical, so while only an Armada Pro-4X has been revealed – and only for North America – it seems likely the global Patrol could be offered in this trim too.

The Pro-4X features a unique front fascia for a superior approach angle.

Nissan says with the adaptive air suspension set to its highest setting, it has an approach angle of 33 degrees, a breakover angle of 25.5 degrees, and a departure angle of 24.5 degrees.

The Pro-4X also offers 244mm of ground clearance.

The off-road edition features unique 20-inch ******-painted alloy wheels wrapped in 275/60R20 all-terrain tyres, as well as underbody skid plates, Lava Red tow hooks, ****** fender flares, and other ****** details.

The Pro-4X comes standard with an electronic locking rear differential, a 3D surround-view camera with a transparent bonnet view, and eight selectable drive modes: Standard, Eco, Sport, Tow, Snow, Sand, Rock, and Mud/Rut.

Inside, the Pro-4X features unique seating with “chunky three-dimensional elements” that Nissan says are “inspired by an athletic back brace”.

****** upholstery is applied to the dashboard, doors and centre console that’s inspired by wetsuit material and has “subtle reflection ‘dice’ graphical treatments visible when light strikes at the right angle”.

As with other Patrol/Armada models, there are dual 14.3-inch displays: one a digital instrument cluster, the other an infotainment touchscreen.

The new infotainment system features a suite of

Under the bonnet, the Pro-4X packs the same twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 as found in other Patrol/Armada models.

This produces 317kW of power and 700Nm of torque, and is mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel drive system.

The new Patrol/Armada sits on a new frame that has a claimed 25 per cent increase in torsional rigidity and a 57 per cent increase in lateral stiffness.

It’s 35mm longer than its predecessor at 5205mm, 35mm wider at 2030mm, and rides the same 3075mm wheelbase.

The Patrol retains a hydraulically assisted steering system, but adds a semi-autonomous lane-centring function, similar to what is found on the

In the US, the Pro-4X will be one of two Armadas to come standard with adaptive air suspension. However, all Patrols will come equipped with this.

Conversely, there’s also a less powerful, entry-level naturally aspirated 3.8-litre V6 that will be offered in some markets but not the US. It’s also unlikely to be offered in Australia.

The Y63-series Patrol will be available to order in Australia from late 2026, ahead of deliveries beginning in 2027.

Nissan Australia has yet to confirm what the local lineup will look like or how much the new Patrol will cost.

The company offers a more off-road capable version of the existing Y62 Patrol called the Warrior, however this was developed by *********** firm Premcar.
