The Xbox Series X had a terrible track record of being one-upped by the PlayStation 5. Sea of Thieves ran much smoother on the rival platform than on the native console and received much more favorable reviews from critics and fans alike.

Perhaps the developers have considered the technological gaps between each platform and thought it would be best to hold onto the Xbox version and work around the problems. Sony could have pulled some strings and indefinitely blocked the rival port to gain full control of the game’s rising popularity in the console space without much competition apart from the PC side.
