Stardew Valley: How To Complete The Goblin Problem Quest

After completing either the community center or Joja Mart paths in Stardew Valley, the Wizard will ask you to get his magic ink from his ex-wife, the Witch. Her swamp can be found in a tunnel near the train tracks, but there are a few obstacles blocking you from getting to her. One of those obstacles is her henchman, who can be bribed with a specific item.

You’ll need to bribe the henchman with a Void Mayonnaise to get past him.

This quest line starts with a short cutscene, which is triggered the first time you go to the railroad after completing the town renovations, either via the community center bundles or Joja Mart. The Wizard asks you to enter a blocked tunnel to retrieve his magic ink, but you need a pendant to open it. Go to the sewers–which you get the key to by donating 60 items to the museum–and speak with Krobus. He directs you to a nearby doorway in the sewer, which leads to the Mutant Bug Lair. Adventure inside to find the talisman.

With the talisman return to the railroad and open up the blocked doorway. Head inside and you will be teleported to the Witch’s Hut in the swamp. Head forward and you will find the path blocked by her henchman, who tells you he can’t risk getting fired by letting you go by.

Give the henchman a Void Mayonnaise and he will leave, allowing you to go forward. There are a couple ways to get Void Mayonnaise, but the easiest is to fish it out of the water in the swamp. You will likely catch a few Void Salmon as well, but Void Mayonnaise is a relatively common catch from the swamp water. If you don’t have the fishing prowess or the luck needed, you can get a Void Egg from Krobus’ shop in the Sewers for 5,000G. You can either hatch the Void Egg via the incubator to get a Void Chicken for a steady source of Void Eggs, or just throw the egg into a mayonnaise maker to make a Void Mayonnaise.

With the henchman out of the way, head into the witch’s hut, grab the magic ink, and take the teleporter in her hut. The teleporter will take you to the Wizard’s basement, so head up and deliver the ink. This unlocks Wizard buildings for you to construct on your farm.
