West *********** cricket superstar shouts out West Coast Eagles young **** Harley Reid’s first season

West *********** cricket superstar Cam Green has given a shout-out to West Coast **** Harley Reid, even declaring he has caught “Harley fever” this season.

Reid was last week crowned the AFL’s best first-year player and his arrival at the Eagles as last year’s No.1 draft pick was met with an unprecedented amount of hype.

Green, who is a star of Indian Premier League’s Royal Challengers Bangalore and across three formats for Australia, says Reid’s debut season in blue-and-gold gives him confidence the club he supports can rise quickly from their spot towards the bottom of the ladder.

Asked on Triple M’s Willow Talk podcast which sport he would play if he wasn’t a cricketer, Green — a talented junior footballer — said: “AFL, absolutely love it, shout out to the Eagles”.

“It’s been tough, but there is light,” he said.

“Harley, I have got Harley fever, Harley Reid fever. We are very happy with him and hopefully for many fruitful years.”

Green said he would be “very happy” to see the Eagles sign Reid on a long-term deal and described him as a “pleasure to watch”.

Reid joined Brownlow medallist and premiership skipper Chris Judd and his 2006 premiership teammate Daniel Kerr as Eagles to claim the best first-year player award, which is voted on by his AFL peers.

The 19-year-old claimed the award ahead of St Kilda’s Darcy Wilson and Melbourne’s Caleb Windsor, with North Melbourne defender Colby McKercher and Geelong’s West *********** draftee Lawson Humphries rounding out the top five.

The No.1 draftee had an extraordinary maiden season for the Eagles, averaging 19 disposals, four tackles, three inside 50s and five clearances as well as kicking 10 goals from his first 20 games.

Green is in the ******* Kingdom this week preparing for Australia’s white-ball matches against Scotland and England, which begin on Wednesday.

The West *********** revealed the star allrounder has held talks with Perth Scorchers bosses around a potential return to the club, but it is likely he will rest after this summer’s blockbuster five-Test series with India.
