( This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up ) – For Labor Day, some folks remembered those who put their lives on the line for all. A nationally recognized mobile 9/11 exhibit arrived at the California 9/11 Memorial in Clovis and will be in town for a couple of days. The Tunnels for Towers Foundation was established to help educate and support families affected by 9/11. One way they do that is with an 83-foot tractor-trailer that turns into a museum. “They are coming here to obviously open the exhibit for our community, which is great. And they also have first responders that actually are on the exhibit that explain the facts of 9/11 and explain the artifacts that are on the mobile exhibit,” California 9/11 Board President Julie DeBenedetto said. Artifacts from ground zero and audio from 9/11 dispatch will be available for folks to see and hear. But those might not be as big a draw as the first responders who will be there in person to teach and tell stories that include Frank Bazzicalupo. “I was the chauffeur that day of Ladder three-seven in the Bronx. One of the chief’s aides said, hey, an 8087 box just came in, second alarm, some sort of a plane hit the World Trade Center. We all turned around, looked at each other, the plane, no one could have believed it,” Bazzicalupo said. Franks knows better than most the sacrifice made to save lives. “At that point, they put us on the box and we responded into the World Trade. And most of us never left until Friday. We worked and lived and slept and we wouldn’t leave our brothers,” Bazzicalupo said. Stories like Frank’s will be on display in Clovis so that we never forget 23 years later. “I consider myself very lucky. I’ve been ***** with my lungs and I’m healing slowly and I’m getting older. So I feel good that I can come here and talk about that tunnel to towers for sure.” On Sept. 3, first responders, veteran, military, county staff, and their families can visit the exhibit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. On Sept. 4, the exhibit is open to the public from noon to 2 p.m., and then 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The exhibit is also free to attend.
