Saber Interactive’s 1-Word Response to Corporate Pressure for Adding a Controversial, Potential Game-******** Software

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is a week from release and boy, is the hype high. After more than a decade, fans will finally continue the story of the first game and fill the shoes of Captain Titus once again. The game launches on September 9 and is poised to be another hit for 2024’s games.

And in a fan-favorite move, the game’s developers Saber Interactive have confirmed that it will not have Denuvo or any Digital Rights Management (DRM) software at launch. With the industry increasingly reliant on DRM to prevent piracy, this decision has been welcomed by fans.

for Space Marine 2, and among the questions asked, was one about whether the game would include Denuvo or any kind of DRM software. Saber’s response was a curt “No.”

This one-word reply has gotten fans celebrating as the devs’ commitment to player experience is highlighted by it. While DRM in theory may seem good or necessary, it has been widely criticized.

Software like this has developed a reputation for causing performance issues, including reduced frame rates and increased load times. Considering the already demanding nature of AAA games, no gamer wants their FPS to be affected by software attached to the game.

This move by Saber Interactive stands out in an industry where the inclusion of DRM is often seen as a necessary evil. Titles like Civilization 7 and Tekken 8 have chosen to include Denuvo while others, like Space Marine 2, don’t.

If that isn’t evidence, some fans have even gone as far as to say that they’ll buy the game just because the game doesn’t have Denuvo.

A number of players responded to the update, and were seemingly delighted by it.

While this move has gotten lots of positive attention, it’s not the only aspect of the game that has players talking. Saber Interactive has also confirmed that all microtransactions within the game will be purely cosmetic, with no in-game cash shop or pay-to-win elements.

Saber also recently released a roadmap for the game and what the months after its launch would bring. These updates will go well into 2025 and introduce new modes, both PvP and PvE, and offer further customization options for players.

With the assurance that all gameplay content will be accessible to everyone, Saber Interactive is setting the stage for success. And whether it was intentional or not, its defiance of corporate pressure to include DRM in Space Marine 2 has won over the community.

As we wait for the final days to pass till the release date of 9th September, Saber Interactive seems to have done all it can for the game’s success. All that’s left is to actually play the game.
