Battlefield 2042 Could Have Restored the Franchise to the Top of the FPS Pile But EA Let Us Down

People waited for a great game after Battlefield V ******* to capture the fans’ attention as many of the video games in the series have done it. Success oftentimes is a result of proper thoughts given to something. That certainly wasn’t the case with the latest entry in the popular military shooter.

Users got their hands on the game in November 2021 with high hopes; they were let down, of course. Its development reportedly began in August 2020. That gives us 15 months, which isn’t really ample considering how far video games have come.

What’s Common Between Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 2042?

Maybe Electronic Arts could’ve just let the game in development ***** for some more time; they didn’t have to use glue and tape to keep Battlefield 2042 in better shape. It has become better, but why does that matter? Fans are now attaching their hopes to the next game.

It’s rival game, Call of Duty, released a Modern Warfare remake in 2019, which took three years to develop; it was a big hit. Their upcoming game, ****** Ops 6, has been in development for four years, and it already looks amazing.

Now let’s think of another similar game in the franchise that has some things in common with Battlefield 2042. Maybe fans have already taken a shot that must’ve hit the middle. We are talking about Modern Warfare 3 here.

For one, the game was a big disappointment, as fans didn’t expect Activision to experiment poorly with the acclaimed military shooter. And it was developed within 16 months, half of what previous entries in the series have taken. That explains a lot.

Let’s hope whatever the developers of both the military shooters are up to, they try to restore the glory of the respective franchises. Shooter fans would never want the legacy of any of those two go down the drain.

Whatever the developers are up to, they need to make sure fans don’t hang on to the previous entries in the franchise to keep their loyalty to the series alive. Nearly 100 Million Battlefield video games have been sold and EA certainly wouldn’t want the growth to slow down.

Video Games Development has Changed a Lot Today

Creating a video game today isn’t something like developing Tennis for Two in 1958. Developers need to have a sense of even a light coming out of the trees or the fans won’t approve that. Complexity is on the same level as that of cooking the ******** dish Suodui.

Then there comes the gameplay balance so the fans don’t rage quit it while playing. However, it can still be a case with cheaters infecting the game with their malicious tactics. And they’re spreading like those rats in A Plague Tale.

One of the most fun (and hectic) parts of game development is trial and error. Developers cannot simply create something and just put it in the lap of fans to play. They need to ensure that whatever product they are about to bring to the market is near perfect so users can enjoy it.

Even mobile gaming has come to that when development is concerned. Though it’s still a faster process in contrast to PC and console games, developers need to deliver a fair product that’s enjoyable. Sadly, the mobile version of Battlefield too was met with ********.

While we have discussed a lot about the development phase, we haven’t considered the pre-production, where the concept of a video game is conceived. Stories needed to be developed and then the prototypes. This could take months if the concept proves to be a complex one.

We can’t say for sure if that would have happened when Battlefield 2042 was released, but developers might’ve thought of bettering their spaceship after it was launched. That certainly didn’t work. Maybe they’ve launched it post-fixation, it might have been more than a ‘Turning Point’.

Electronic Arts said that it was because of that remote work during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic that was core to the game’s ********. Now that the lockdowns across the globe have lifted and everyone has returned to their respective workplaces, we will have to see if that makes any difference in the upcoming video game.

Do you think EA needed to give the developers more time? If yes, would it be a different product than what we see today? We would like to know your thoughts in the comments section below.
