Fans of Dragon Age have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming The Veilguard after a decade of wait. BioWare recently hosted a Q&A session on Discord, and a ton of new details were shared about the game. 

Among the many revelations, the game director hinted at an exciting feature that marks a first for the franchise. The game is shaping up to be a real evolution of the series, with plenty of new and great quality-of-life changes and improvements that fans were really hoping for.

According to the new revelations, players who choose to play as a rogue will have direct control over their bow, allowing them to make critical hits by aiming for headshots.

This is a significant shift from the usual gameplay mechanics in the series, where critical hits have mostly been about stats rather than player skill, and there wasn’t an option to target individual body parts as the bow would automatically hit the ******.

In addition to the rogue’s new feature, the Q&A session also revealed several other gameplay elements regarding Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Players can pause during cutscenes, giving them time to take in the story at their own pace.

BioWare also confirmed that players could refund all their skill points to respec into different specializations, offering flexibility in gameplay and build variety. 

The game will have various faction items, with gear tied to different factions that become available as you help them get stronger. There’s also a full transmog system that lets players customize the appearance of any gear they find.

This means you can dress casually and still have the attributes of a full armor, depending on your preference. Exploration is also set to be a big part of the game, with large open areas to explore, like Arlathan Forest and The Hossberg Wetlands. 

Each companion also brings unique abilities to help during exploration and puzzles, making them more than just combat partners, as they will also guide you when needed.

Companions and Combat Dynamics Are Drastically Improved

Companions in Dragon Age: The Veilguard are more than just characters who join you on your journey. They feel like a found family, with relationships that develop throughout the game.

Each companion has their own arc and quests, and some quests can expire based on your choices, and you can also annoy companions by constantly choosing the wrong options.

The game also includes a gift system where you can find or buy items that are personal to each companion; they are added to their rooms and affect your relationship with them.

Combat in the game is pretty dynamic, with each class having two ******* slots and the ability to switch between them even mid-*******.

The Mage class has been given special attention, with the ability to learn abilities from all elements, making them very useful in battle. Elemental effects are a big focus, and even warriors and rogues can feel a bit more magical this time around.
