Get ready for a walk through history as Back to Brunswick comes to South West

Brunswick locals from near and far are encouraged to make their pilgrimage back to Brunswick this weekend for a walk down memory lane.

Brunswick Junction is set to host a grand reunion of residents old and new as institutions around town open their doors from 10am to 4pm on September 7 for Back to Brunswick Day.

The Town Hall is set to be the epicentre of history, packed with past photos of the town, from its early days as a junction to Collie to becoming the region’s top dairy producer.

There will also be historic movie reels playing through the day, as well as performances from the Brunswick Singers.

Historic walking tours and displays from the Brunswick’s Slot Car Club and Men’s Shed will also be on show, as well as bus tours taking sightseers out to historic farms Melville Park and White Rocks.

Julie Rose, a member of the organising committee, said former and current residents, as well as the wider South West community, are invited to take part in the celebrations.

“This is really going to be a great reunion, cerebrating our past,” she said.

Fellow organiser Roy Scott said the day would be particularly special for older residents who can reconnect.

“We usually get a lot of people in for the Brunswick Show, and we do see old friends there,” he said.

“But this is giving an opportunity to reunite all our older people and celebrate history.”

Committee member Kaye Scott said she was keen to catch up with former residents and was hopeful for a spring day.
