Warner Robins High student charged with having ****, ********** on campus, police say

A **** was confiscated from a student’s book bag on Tuesday at Warner Robins High School in Houston County, officials confirmed.

The 16-year-old was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with possessing of a ******* in a school safety zone and possessing **********, said Lt. Darin Meadows from the Houston County Sheriff’s Juvenile Investigations.

WRHS staff and law enforcement confiscated the firearm from the student’s backpack during a search. There were no injuries or threats made with the *******, district spokesperson Jennifer Jones said in an email.

Chris McCook, principal of Warner Robins High School, notified parents Tuesday.

“Please be assured that all students and staff are safe,” McCook said in a callout to the campus community. “The safety and well-being of our students and staff is always our number one priority, and we will continue to investigate any and all safety concerns.”

McCook advised anyone with questions to contact him directly.

The student was taken to the Crisp County Regional Youth Detention Center and remained in custody Friday awaiting trial, Meadows said.

Meadows said he couldn’t disclose why the 16-year-old had a **** on campus.

The district said it could not disclose disciplinary actions taken against the student, but officials followed

concerning weapons on campus.

“Safety is our number one priority, and we will not tolerate weapons of any kind at school. Working together with our students and parents as a team, we can continue to keep our schools a safe place to learn,” school officials said.

School officials encourage students to use an anonymous alert tool to report incidents across the district.
