Romulus’ Fede Alvarez May Be the Man To Interrogate About Naughty Dog’s Upcoming Game

The Last of Us effortlessly made its way into the PlayStation Hall of Fame overnight of great single-player projects and has set the standard for what the gaming community should expect from a Naughty Dog game. The game developers spared no expense in creating one of the best stories in this format.

The franchise’s success paved the way for a sequel which received a mixed reaction from the gaming community but was ultimately a huge commercial and financial success. The director behind the first two games branched out and established connections with major Hollywood directors who could possess insider knowledge.

The Last of Us Director Invited Fede Alvarez to the Naughty Dog Office

The developers of Naughty Dog always aspire to create realistic games that evoke human emotions and the previous projects achieved those goals and then some. The gaming community anticipated the developers are actively working on several projects including a new original IP that deviates from The Last of Us in ways more than one, particularly with the point of view.

Director Neil Druckmann has made a name for himself from his recent video game projects, and he is adamant about penetrating the movie business space given his recent and upcoming contributions to the live-action series of his game on HBO. Druckmann invited Fede Alvarez, the director of Alien: Romulus, and hinted that he might have given him a sneak peek of what’s to come.

It is an open secret that Naughty Dog is working on a new project with Druckmann at the helm. It ******** unknown whether it is a sequel of an existing franchise or the original IP project after Sony Interactive Entertainment botched the director’s interview which cascaded into more unsolicited rumors and conversations about where the studio will go next.

Alvarez could have visited for a social call to talk about their respective crafts as Druckmann gives him a glimpse of this new project which can be a major security risk for game development nowadays, especially when leaks are becoming more rampant. Druckmann jokingly reminded Alvarez of his non-disclosure agreement to avoid any major spoiler from leaking online.

It has been four years since The Last of Us Part 2 was released on the PlayStation 4 and Naughty Dog recently remastered the game for the PlayStation 5. The gaming community is beginning to worry about the studio’s lack of original content for this console generation but after Alvarez’s visit, something is in the tank.

Both directors excel in horror storytelling, perhaps they could have exchanged notes on improving each other’s craft. Alvarez drew inspiration from Druckmann’s games as he worked on Alien: Romulus and his recent visit to the studio brought him back to a full-circle experience.

After celebrating the fourth anniversary of the controversial sequel, Druckmann hinted at the possibility of another game and did it again near the end of the Grounded 2 documentary. There is no telling if this is what Alvarez saw during his time in the studio but odds are it is remarkable.

Hopefully, Druckmann will have something to show in the coming months to put the fans at ease. The director has set the bar high which can be challenging for him to maintain the momentum.
