Fewkes’ grand form earns him national selection for second time

Local golfer and WA captain Connor Fewkes this week earned *********** selection for the second time, ahead of October’s Asia-Pacific ******** Championship in Japan.

Fewkes, 24, debuted for Australia at the same event last year when he finished in a tie for 48th.

He will line-up at this year’s event alongside reigning *********** ******** champion Quinnton Croker, from Royal Queensland, and defending AAC champion Jasper Stubbs.

The Asia-Pacific championship carries the allure of starts in the 2025 Masters Tournament at Augusta National and the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

Fewkes is riding the momentum of a stellar 2023, when he was named WA captain for the second consecutive year at the *********** Interstate Teams Matches, and he won the Goldfields Golf Club’s premier event, the annual McDonald’s Goldfields Classic, four times in five years from 2017 to 2021.

His 2021 victory was on the heels of his triumph at Royal Fremantle Golf Club’s ******** open.

Six years ago, aged just 18, Fewkes was among six amateurs in the field at the Emirates *********** Open in Sydney.

Also in 2018, Fewkes earned the rare distinction of claiming the junior and senior major awards at the annual Goldfields Sports Star of the Year presentation.
