How to Save Your Game in Visions of Mana

As you roam the world in Visions of Mana, you’ll note the game isn’t automatically saving in the background. This is an old-school JRPG, which means you must manually save the game to retain your progress. Unfortunately, you can’t just pause the game to access a menu and save anytime you wish. Here is how to save your game in Visions of Mana!

How to Save in Visions of Mana

During exploration, you’ll note a shimmering mass of particles in the distance. They often appear near roads, especially before big story points and battles, with anywhere from one to three per zone (in our experience). These shimmering specks are known as Meridians, and like in Elden Ring or ****** Myth: Wukong, you must walk up and activate each one if you wish to save your game in Visions of Mana.

When you go to save your game, you’ll note you have ten save slots available. You can overwrite your save file, delete a file, or overwrite an existing file to keep your progress separate between playthroughs.

Along with allowing you to save your game, Meridians will also enable you to travel fast between each one you activate.

Does Visions of Mana Autosave?

Visions of Mana does autosave your progress at various intervals, typically before a significant story boss, when you enter a new area, or when you exit the game. To ensure the game is autosaving correctly, keep an eye on your screen for the spinning emblem. It indicates an autosave file is being created to mark your progress.

The next time you load your game, you can choose to load the autosave instead of your manual save. This is an excellent system for when you lose power or must quit unexpectedly!
