Star Wars Outlaws’ Optimization Is Abysmal Dropping To Less Than 30fps On High End Graphics Cards With DLSS Enabled

Star Wars Outlaws is finally accessible in early access, and fans of the galaxy far, far away have been jumping straight into what’s supposed to be the ultimate open-world experience.

Ever since its announcement, the game has had all the makings of a dream come true for loyal fans of the franchise. Promises of crisp modern graphics, smooth gameplay, and a rich world to explore were whispered. Unfortunately, not all of these have been fulfilled.

Players Are Not Impressed With Star Wars Outlaws’ Performance

Leading up to the release, talks about performance issues began circulating. Pre-release reviews hinted at some troubling signs, and now that the game is in the hands of the public, those concerns have been confirmed.

Star Wars Outlaws is struggling, and not just on low-end systems—high-end rigs with some of the most powerful graphics cards on the market are being brought to their knees. A particularly shocking example comes from a screenshot shared on X/

.

The screenshot the review is from shows that the game was struggling to run on a GeForce RTX 4090 in Ultra HD.

The game was clocking in at a disappointing 35 to 50 FPS in the city of Toshara. Worse still, in the surrounding areas, the frame rate often dipped to 20 to 30 FPS.

This is with DLSS enabled, a technology designed to boost performance by upscaling lower resolutions.

The situation for Radeon RX 7900 XTX users was even bleaker. With frame rates struggling to maintain 30 FPS, it’s clear that something’s gone seriously wrong in the optimization department.

People Are Tired of Accepting Mediocrity

This isn’t just a minor inconvenience for people with high-end setups. The disappointment has been real, and the community hasn’t held back from voicing their candid thoughts on the situation.

Some are even calling for a boycott of the game and others like it, insinuating that companies will continue to release unoptimized games (as we’ve seen countless times before) unless gamers vote with their wallet.

If a 4090 can’t handle Star Wars Outlaws, what hope is there for the average gamer?

If it’s any consolation, the game seems to almost double in FPS after disabling RTXDI (Ray Tracing Dynamic Illumination).

However, if even high-end PC builds are struggling to run the game with it, then who is this feature for?

Is this a case of gamers overreacting, or is the frustration justified? There’s no denying that Star Wars Outlaws still has the potential to be an incredible game, and fans of the franchise seem happy with it.
