Flight QF1078, which was bound for Mt Isa, left Brisbane Airport at 3.35pm. However the Boeing 737-838 turned back towards Brisbane after reaching the Arcadia Valley in the Central Highlands region. The flight landed at Brisbane airport just before 6pm after operating in a holding pattern above the South Burnett region. NCA NewsWire / Ben Clark Credit: News Corp Australia A Qantas spokesperson confirmed to the Courier Mail the flight had returned to Brisbane following a suspected bird strike. “The aircraft landed normally and is being inspected by engineers,” the spokesperson said. “We will re-accommodate customers as soon as possible. “We appreciate our customers’ understanding and apologise for the inconvenience.” However the Courier Mail reported it’s understood no evidence of a bird strike was found following an inspection of the runway at Brisbane Airport.
