A national approach to growth in our cities

The Federal Government launched a draft National Urban Policy earlier this year, which aims to provide a consistent vision for growth in our cities across the country.

Having a vision for our city’s growth is important, given that, according to the policy’s State of the Cities snapshot, most population growth occurs in our cities, with our 20 biggest cities growing by 3.2 million people in the 10 years to 2023. These 20 largest cities also generate nearly 78 per cent of the nation’s ****** domestic product. In the context of this growth, most cities in Australia, including Perth, are experiencing a housing supply crisis.
