Gollum Had More Players On Launch Day Than Concord Did

Firewalk Studios’ 5v5 first-person hero shooter title Concord released on August 23 and the launch has been very underwhelming. The hero shooter title has been criticized for not meeting expectations and many also allege that it does not bring anything new to the live-service genre.

The game opened to a very small numbers of players in the game and given how it has not improved so far, the game is being considered as a ********. It now turns out that Concord has far less players than what is regarded as the worst game of 2023, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.

Concord Has Even Fewer Players on Launch Than Gollum Had

Concord has launched for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. As per

, the game’s all-time peak is at 697 concurrent players that was recorded 17 hours ago and at the time of writing, there are only 222 players in the game.

This numbers are only for Steam and while Sony and Epic Games does not reveal the number of players, playing on PS5 and Epic Games Store, the numbers seemingly would not be much different. But what’s more shocking is that the game has less players than The Lord of the Rings: Gollum recorded.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum from Daedalic Entertainment has been labeled as the worst game of 2023 and ******* miserably. However, it garnered more players than Concord as it’s all-time peak on launch day was 758 concurrent players.

Did Sony and Other Online Titles Ruin the Chances of the Game’s Success?

This is saddening as the game does not look bad and has quite engaging gameplay. Many players have been loving the game too but it seems like the game misses something that would have attracted players interested in live-service genre.

It is simply not appealing enough for some to try it out. Some allege that Sony did not enough market research for the game and it should have been free to play and not paid. The live-service genre has been quiet busy with several releases this year itself.

From Helldivers 2 to free to play titles like The First Descendant, there are many new online games. It is very possible that players do not find this title interesting enough or worth their time and money. Many players who played it seems to think so.

There has also been almost zero marketing about the game due to which there was no hype around it and it has come back to ***** the developer. It seems like Gollum, Concord may just become the worst game of 2024 but it is possible that the developer can turn things around, hopefully, only time will tell.
