As the weather starts to warm and the south of our State starts to break into blossom, this festival celebrates the season from Kojonup, out to Pingrup and down to Bremer Bay, across the Porongorup and Frankland rivers, the Stirling Range, Fitzgerald River National Park and everything in between. People from eight shires across the Great Southern work together to put on more than 55 activities including arts and crafts, exhibitions, workshops, food and wine events, open gardens, movie nights, music, markets, guided flower walks and opportunities to learn about Noongar culture. Across the region, the wildflowers are the star of the show, including golden wattle, everlastings, delicate orchids, coastal daisies, banksia and kangaroo paws. It runs September 21 until October 20. See

If you’re looking for a reason to stray from the heater this winter, the new menu at Cooee might be it. Head chef Caio Matiussi, who joined the riverside destination earlier this year, has added some decadent dishes to the contemporary ***********-themed menu. There is a WA lobster roll with pickled lettuce and spiced tomato sauce, as well as a Harvey Beef Reserve Range tartare served with a cured egg yolk and crisp pepper bread.
