Hammers duo pull ball boy from beneath collapsed screen

West Ham players Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen cut short their goal celebrations to pull a ball boy out from underneath an advertising screen that collapsed during their 2-0 win at Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Soucek had just scored the opener in the 67th minute on Saturday and Bowen jumped onto his back as they celebrated in front of the away fans at Selhurst Park.

But some of those supporters spilled onto the field when the advertising hoardings gave way, and a ball boy was left trapped underneath one of the screens.

Soucek then quickly hoisted the screen up while England international Bowen helped the boy to his feet.

The two then checked to make sure the boy was unharmed before play resumed — and Bowen went on to score West Ham’s second five minutes later for the team’s first win under new manager Julen Lopetegui.

“I just managed to grab him out as quick as possible, it was just instinct, just to do it,” Bowen said, before he donated his match shirt to the ball boy after the final whistle.
