Plans to test all WA kids on their maths skills in the early years of schooling have sparked fears among school leaders of “Year 1 league tables”.

WA is poised to sign up to the Federal Government’s new schooling agreement, which will tie funding for the next 10 years to reforms such as a compulsory numeracy screening check to identify children at risk of falling behind.
