There’s nothing quite like the anticipation of a showcase from a big gaming brand, PlayStation included. Unfortunately, Sony has a habit of keeping fans guessing the schedule.

With no solid timeline to go by, fans often rely on leakers and unofficial sources to piece together clues.

According to their sources from within the company—who’ve supposedly been right before—we should expect an announcement for the next showcase during the week of September 5th.

If that wasn’t enough to get people excited, they also mentioned the alleged date of the PlayStation showcase: September 12th.

Determining the date for the showcase isn’t so ******-and-white, especially with the timing of the Tokyo Game Show (TGS), which begins at the end of September.

This has led to a split in opinions among fans. One reply argues there’s no way Sony would hold a showcase when it could just make a splash on the global stage.

Look up their trends of what they have done. Also, not sure why you would do a PS showcase at Japan Tokyo show when you could do a showcase and then be there to have things that have been announced be available to play and look at.

OP argues that a September 12th PlayStation showcase would align perfectly with TGS. Sony could drop some bombshell announcements during the showcase, and then follow up with hands-on demos and deeper dives at TGS.

This would allow it to keep the momentum going and dominate the news cycle for weeks.

One thing’s for sure though: people are hoping it’s not going to be a disappointing reveal.

The last time rumors of a special PlayStation showcase were swirling around, it turned out to be an underwhelming State of Play that not many people had nice things to say about.
