Hillsborough firefighter, ex-state attorney’s office employee charged with child **** *******

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Hillsborough County ***** lieutenant and a former state attorney’s office employee were both arrested and charged with unlawful **** with a minor, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Sascha Engel, 39, and Alyssa Engel, 37, both of Riverview, forced a 16-year-old to engage in ******* acts on April 27.

The case will be prosecuted in Polk County due to West being a former employee of the State Attorney’s Office in Hillsborough County.

“Alyssa West worked here as a member of our support staff years ago,” a spokesperson told News Channel 8. “The case was sent for executive assignment. That is generally what happens in a situation where a former employee or someone with close ties to our office is charged with a ****** and it could cause an appearance of being unfair.”

Sascha was placed on administrative leave, effective May 24 after the department was notified of a ********* investigation. After his arrest, he was placed on administrative leave without pay, according to a county official.

Sascha was hired in January 2004 as a firefighter before being promoted in 2015 to ***** Medic I and then Lieutenant in 2020.
