Touring Peel artist makes way to Waroona with artwork exploring the ebb and flow of life

A new exhibition is coming to Waroona with the community invited to get involved with the artistic project to create something reflective of why they “love this place”.

Peel artist Deidre Robb is bringing her exhibition Ebb + Flow to Waroona, with Memorial Hall set to host her textile artwork from August 28 to September 26.

The artwork is a collaborative effort which saw artists from each region of WA exploring the theme of Ebb + Flow though a residence in Carnamah in WA’s Mid West during 2021 and 2022.

Robb is running three workshops to coincide with the exhibition, all exploring the theme of “I love this place,” with the first workshop having already taken place on August 12.

The workshops will have the community come together to help create a new piece with words about why the community love the region stitched into an old tablecloth.

Her second workshop will be on August 22 at Preston Beach Community Hall, with the third on September 3 at the Waroona Arts and Craft Centre.

Robb also invites the community to bring their own projects to work on, to “create with company” while others work on the larger tablecloth project.

Shire president Mike Walmsley said it is great to have something within the shire to highlight art in the community.

“Hopefully this will inspire some of the creativity that we have in our town and our shire’s people,” he said.

“I hope people will come along to the exhibition and get involved, and go home inspired to let their creative juices flow.”
