A taxpayer-funded major events ***** has proven WA’s economic strategy is working, Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti has claimed, taking a shot at Victoria’s decision to dump the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Speaking after the release of figures showing an economic return of more than $100 million from the Coldplay, WWE Elimination Chamber and FIFA Women’s World Cup, Ms Saffioti said the deals gave tourists a reason to visit the most isolated city in the nation.
