One person *******, five others injured in Friday ***** in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN – One person ***** and five others were injured in a ***** Friday morning in Middletown.

The ***** broke out at 8 Knapp Ave. shortly before 5:30 a.m. Friday.

The Middletown ***** Department said flames were already engulfing significant portions of the building when the first firefighters arrived on the scene four minutes after the ***** was first reported.

There were six occupants inside the residence at the time the ***** broke out, and one of them did not survive the blaze. The name of the person who ***** is being withheld, pending notification of family members.

The five other people were taken by Empress EMS to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, where they are being treated for various injuries. No further information on their conditions was available.

The ***** was placed under control at 12:48 p.m. The cause of the ***** is under investigation.
