Starfield Theory Points at Either a ***** Bethesda Writing Staff or a Disturbing Erasure of an Entire Species

Starfield players have journeyed across countless planets, battled alien creatures, and explored the farthest reaches of space. But players have noticed that something crucial is missing—our beloved feline and canine companions.

This has been one of the community’s biggest questions. Especially since the game’s concept art teased the inclusion of cats. Fans have speculated that it could be a twisted creative choice to erase an entire species from the universe. While others believe it’s simply an oversight by Bethesda’s writers.

Where Are Our **** Friends in Starfield?

From the start, Starfield presented itself as a game that blends the wonder of space exploration with a sense of realism. Early concept art showed cats wandering through spaceship corridors, suggesting they were originally intended to be part of the game’s universe. The absence of any domesticated animals, especially cats and dogs has shown that that is not the case.

Previous Bethesda titles, such as Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls series, prominently featured pets, with the iconic Dogmeat becoming a fan favorite. But in Starfield, these companions are mysteriously absent. Similarly, The Elder Scrolls series allowed players to encounter domesticated animals, making the worlds feel lived-in and relatable.

One possible explanation ***** in the game’s lore. Some parts of the lore mention the extinction of certain species, including one breed of dogs and horses. So it’s definitely possible that all cats and dogs are also extinct while not being mentioned anywhere.

The theory that the writing staff intentionally chose to exclude pets has led to some dark interpretations. Some fans think that this adds a layer of realism to the game, reflecting the harsh realities of space colonization and the sacrifices that humanity might have to make.

How Could An Entire Species Be Extinct?

Not everyone thinks that this was a conscious narrative choice though. The absence of pets in Starfield might be a disturbing erasure of an entire species, a choice driven more by technical or logistical considerations than by storytelling.

After all, incorporating living, breathing animals into a game as complex as Starfield would require resources and development time (albeit not a lot). Could it be that the studio simply decided it wasn’t worth the effort, especially if these animals didn’t play a crucial role in the gameplay or story?

This is weird because the game includes numerous references to cats, from posters adorning walls to facial tattoos featuring felines in space helmets. These elements suggest that cats are not entirely forgotten within the game’s universe, yet their absence suggests otherwise.

The ******* for pets has not gone unnoticed. With the release of the Creation Kit, modders now have the tools to address this. Players are hopeful that the community will soon introduce mods to reintroduce cats and dogs into the game.
