Sheriff’s Office said they’ve identified those involved and new video has been released showing the moments leading up to the *********.

Video evidence showed a group of teens meeting up to face off in a fist ******. Moments later, shots are fired, you see a teen with a **** in hand before the group takes off running, and the shots continue.

“Upon getting to the area and just searching, they located a deceased body. They identified that deceased body as a juvenile male,” says Hays County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Alyssa Davenport.

Neighbors in the area recalled hearing the gunshots and police sirens on August 5 around 5:15 p.m.

“That is scary. There are enough things that we all deal with and the idea that your kids are not safe is a pretty scary thought,” says Buda resident Steve Etheridge.

Another scary moment for Steve Etheridge, who lives a block away from the ****** scene, was when the Hays County Sheriff’s Office asked residents to shelter in place.

“It wasn’t a couple of hours later that we were given the all clear but at that point we never heard that the shooter had been apprehended and to this point I still don’t know if they had been,” says Etheridge.

On Wednesday, August 14, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office confirmed those involved in the ********* have been identified and will ensure that proper charges are filed.

“I don’t know what the answer is. How do we protect them better? Again, you know the presence of more law enforcement, you would think that would be great, but again, I just don’t know if that is a reality,” says Etheridge.

Etheridge says most residents learned about the deadly ********* through social media.

page and just kind of gave a little bit of context into what had went on and there were people that had just said some pretty ****** things to her, and at that point, that is the last thing she needed. I just can’t imagine going through that no one should ever have to lose a child,” says Etheridge.

Officials say updates will be provided if any charges are filed.

What happened in Buda on August 5

On Monday, August 5, deputies were called after shots were fired in the 800 block of Shadow Creek Boulevard, near Windy Hill Road, shortly after 5:15 p.m.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a male juvenile ***** with a gunshot wound.

A neighbor told FOX 7 Austin that he heard a group of people running through the grass between two houses. Shortly after, he heard multiple gunshot wounds.

People who lived in the area were told to shelter in place while they searched for the suspect.

The order was lifted shortly before 8 p.m., but the suspect was not found.

Police say that they believed it was an isolated incident.
