Rain cuts off Perry in full flow in her Hundred closer

Ellyse Perry signed off from the Women’s Hundred with a sweetly-struck 45 not out before rain ended a frustrating tournament for the *********** batter.

Her Birmingham Phoenix side were already ruled out of the finals before their concluding match against Manchester Originals, skippered by Beth Mooney, became a rain-ruined abandonment with the teams forced to share the points.

The weather rolled into Edgbaston on Thursday with Phoenix 2-98, and settled in thereafter.

Phoenix captain Perry was the dominant figure of the play that was possible, batting beautifully to reach 45 from 39 ******, but with Perry and Amy Jones in the midst of building a useful partnership, the weather cut them off in their prime with 30 ****** still remaining in the innings.

Earlier, Lauren Filer bowled with pace and ***** to remove Sterre Kalis for 18, and Phoebe Graham picked up Fran Wilson for 18, but that was as good as it got for the Originals.

The finals take place this weekend with Oval Invincibles (Laura Harris, Amanda *****-Wellington) meeting London Spirit (Meg Lanning, Grace Harris, Georgia Redmayne) at The Oval on Saturday for the right to play Jess Jonassen’s Welsh ***** in the final at Lord’s on Sunday.
