The demands and requests for a Dino Crisis remake have been growing over the years. Fans of the survival horror game have been seeing its competitors from back in the day brought into the modern generation of gaming and wonder when it would be their turn next.

Released in 1999, the game is now over two decades old but still has a pretty strong fan base. A remake for the same could do very well, but it seems Shinji Mikami may not feel the same, and that is not going to go down well with the community.

As the creator of the first Resident Evil game, thus beginning the franchise, Mikami is a stalwart in gaming. His other titles are also well-known, such as **** Hand, Killer7, and The Evil Within. However, Dino Crisis is arguably one of the greats in the survival horror genre, so it’s no wonder that fans of the original series are now asking for a remake of the title.

While dinosaurs have been in gaming for a while now, Mikami’s 1999 title was the first to showcase them in such a terrifying manner. The setting and compelling story of the game earned Dino Crisis the top spot in a survey asking fans which Capcom game they would like to see remade.

At the start of July, the company posted a tweet celebrating the 25th anniversary of the first game’s launch. This post, coupled with the survey, made many believe that a remake may be heavily implied. However, when speaking with Eurogamer, Mikami may have revealed that no such plan was in effect.

He cites the small chance for a remake of the game as the popularity of the Monster Hunter series. The two games are worlds apart in terms of genre similarities, so his comments have both confused and annoyed fans.

While nostalgia is a factor, the game has to be a solid entry to deserve a remake. Titles such as Silent Hill 2 are getting remakes not only due to their popularity but also because they have substantial content that can also alter the experience slightly from the original playthrough.

The remakes we have gotten so far have been received very well. The ***** Space remake got a 10/10 rating from us, as not only does it pay homage to the original, but it also added some new content to make it a worthwhile replay for veterans in the game.

In a market that seems to eat up every remake of a survival horror game, it’s a wonder Capcom has not yet announced the remake of such a beloved title. While Mikami’s words may worry some, the decision ultimately ***** with the company.
