Margaret River Senior High School on the line for 19th shield win at WA School Surfing Titles

Margaret River Senior High School will be seeking to win their 19th consecutive WA State School Titles champion school trophy on Friday.

Facing credible challenges from a host of the State’s strongest surfing schools including fellow Capes surfers from Mackillop ********* College and Cape Naturaliste College, the local surfers go into the competition hot from their win at the recent South West regional schools championship.

The contest, to be held at Trigg Beach, features almost 20 schools who have battled through for their chance at the ultimate prize.

The crowned school will represent WA on the national stage later this year.

Among the surfers to watch are Olive Hardy, Leila Fraser, Kaleisha Launders and Ruby Berry, with the boys represented by Okie Fraser, Macklin Flynn, Ethan Anderson and Jahli Clark.

However, recent strong showings by colleagues including Cruz Uros and Flynn Eastaugh set the stage for some epic showdowns.

Surfing WA events manager Justin Majek said the competition was a crucial stop for young surfers developing their careers.

“This event isn’t just about the thrill of the ride,” he said.

“It’s also a gateway to higher levels of competition.

“The top surfing teams from Friday’s final will earn the honour of representing WA and their school at the *********** Junior Surfing Titles in Wollongong, NSW, where they’ll take on the best surfing schools from across the nation.”
