***** of P 2’s Controversial Decision Could End Up Backfiring Massively

***** of P, developed by Neowiz and Round8 Studios, was released last year to critical and commercial success. The game, which hooked players with its dark, twisted take on the Pinocchio tale, ended on a cliffhanger, hinting at potential DLC.

Now, that DLC is turning into a reality with Neowiz actively hiring for its development. However, it seems that the ***** of P sequel might thread the open-world gameplay waters as information from the hiring post hints at it. Nevertheless, fans are not happy with this Soulslike going full-on open world.

***** of P Sequel Heading Towards an Open World Concept

***** of P is a soulslike game that thrives on fantastically designed interconnected levels that have become synonyms with titles like Dark Souls. On the other hand, Elden Ring, another FromSoftware’s souls game, successfully expanded into an open-world format. Nevertheless, this one followed a traditional, linear story, which fans consumed with rave reviews.

Set in the fictional city of Krat, ***** of P is a dysfunctional, dark, gritty take on the famous novel The Adventures of Pinocchio. The game follows P, a puppet who awakens in a city plagued by the Petrification ********, with the mission to find Geppetto.

The post-credits scene hints at a sequel, with a tale covering Dorothy and her adventure in Oz. As Neowiz’s job listing sparks open-world debate, fans are worried that it might break the series.

Fans aren’t convinced ***** of P should transition into an open-world game. Developed by Neowiz, known for live service games, and Round8, a mobile game developer, ***** of P was surprisingly successful in its linear format.

However, fans are skeptical about whether these studios can deliver an open-world experience worthy of play, in a genre dominated by titles like Elden Ring.

While Elden Ring set a new standard for open-world soulslike games, not every title can reach the same depth and quality. Some fans feel that ***** of P, despite its success, doesn’t have the narrative or gameplay complexity to support an open-world design.

This shift might be just an attempt to capitalize on Elden Ring’s massive success rather than a natural evolution of the series. One fan took to

to express their doubts saying that developers shouldn’t change what worked in the original game.

Many fans of soulslike series praised Elden Ring’s success but said they loved ***** of P for what it is. One fan said that this isn’t the right way for ***** of P and it had a great balance of linear gameplay.

Another fan added that the game was great as it was and the open-world concept is not needed for a game like this one.

While the job listing indicates that Neowiz is looking for someone with vast experience on playing open-world games, this doesn’t necessarily confirm that the ***** of P DLC will fully go open-world.

However, with the DLC’s release date set for the second half of 2024, there is still time for development and community feedback.
