From Yakuza Kiwami To Tetris Forever, Here Is Everything That Was Shown During The August 2024 Nintendo Direct

The 2024 Nintendo Direct is concluded, and it brought some very exciting news for fans of indie games as well as people awaiting fresh releases for the Nintendo Switch.

However, there was still no announcement regarding the highly anticipated successor of the current Nintendo Switch, which left fans dissatisfied, but they still got a ton of games to compensate for the lack of an announcement of Switch 2. Here are all the games, from Yakuza Kiwami to Tetris forever, featured in the Nintendo Direct on August 27, 2024.

Yakuza Kiwami

Yakuza Kiwami was not seen on the Nintendo platform for a long time, and this comes as great news that the remake of the original game has now found its way into the world of Nintendo.

Tetris Forever

Tetris is one of the oldest games out there. The game opened the Nintendo Direct showcase, which was a homage to the game’s 40-year anniversary.

The game offers a bundle of many classic Tetris games, including Tetris! Tetris 2 + Bombliss! Tetris Battle Gaiden! and a new Tetris Time Wrap that enables players to play with many Tetris styles at the same time.

Star Overdrive

Star Overdrive is a sci-fi adventure title with cool hoverboarding and melee combat in an extremely beautiful alien world. The game will be making its debut next year, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.

Neva

The developers of Gris are back with yet another hauntingly beautiful game that offers an emotionally charged adventure to the players. The game follows a similar visual language to Gris and follows the story of a young woman named Alba and her everlasting bond with a wolf. The game is coming on October 15.

Moth Kubit

Moth Kubit is an up-and-coming indie title revolving around a mega corporation being run by bugs with you at the centre of the command, leading the team of bugs towards success. The game is scheduled to be released next year, in the spring of 2025.

Coffee Talk Tokyo

Coffee Talk developers have come up with a new title for their visual novel series, Coffee Talk Tokyo, and the teaser released by them hints that the game is still under production and will be ready for release sometime in 2025.

Morsels

Morsels is the upcoming indie game from the celebrated developer Annapurna Interactive.

The game enables you to play as a mouse in a cat-infested world that you would need to battle through to move forward. The game is scheduled to be released in February 2025.

Peglin

Peglin is an indie title that is coming to Nintendo as a time console exclusive. The game is a popular take on Popcap’s perennially popular puzzler.

Pico Park 2

Pico Park 2 is a cute co-op game that allows up to 6 players at a time to play and work together where each player is responsible for the other. This is also a timed console exclusive.

Pizza Tower

The indie showcase concluded with Pizza Tower, which gave a glimpse into the 90s cartoon-style visual design of the game. The game was made available at the end of the showcase, a year after its PC release.

Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land

This is one of the most beautiful games that were showcased on the Nintendo Direct due to it’s intricate and detailed world-building, including some of the most visually striking and soothing flora and fauna you will ever see in a game. The game is scheduled to arrive in the early months of 2025.

Tales of Graces Remastered

This was one of the most surprising announcements during the showcase, as the game had been thought to have been lost to time since its initial release in 2009, which was only made available in Japan for WII and later on PS3 in 2012 in the west.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

The showcase concluded with Yakuza Kiwami and Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. The game is scheduled to be released in spring 2025.

Other Announcements During Nintendo Direct

• The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky remake is coming to Nintendo soon. The game comes from the celebrated developer Nihon Falcom.
• Castlevania Dominus collection is bringing 4 games to the Nintendo Switch, including Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia
• Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster will also be welcomed into the world of Nintendo Switch by March 2025.
• Capcom announced Capcom Fighting Collection 2 which will see the light of the day in 2025.
• Five Night at Freddy’s game are also coming to Nintendo switch after a year of being released on other platforms. The exact date of release is yet to be annoounced.
• Balatro was seen to be teamed up with many other celebrated titles including The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, Vampire Survivors, and Among Us.

• Civilization 7 will also be coming to Nintendo Switch with other titles on February 11, 2025.
• A new trailer for Sea of Stars was revealed by Sabotage Studios during the showcase.
• A gameplay trailer of Dragon Quest 3 was also revealed during the showcase.
• SpongeBob Squarepants: The Patrick Star Game is also now coming to Nintendo Switch on October 4, 2024.
• Goat Simulator 3 was also made available to players on the day of the showcase.
• Metal Slug Tactics got a new trailer and a release date of fall 2024 for Nintendo Switch
• The unique world of On Your Tail will also be arriving on Nintendo Switch on November 21, 2024.
• Europa is scheduled to be released on October 11, 2024, fans wanting to get their hands on the game early can download the demo version now.
• Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX, a highly celebrated adventure game, will be coming sometime in 2025.

Many Games Saw The Light of Day During Nintendo Direct

There were many games revealed to the world this year, including some of the remastered titles from the past that fans had been waiting for.

The showcase turned out to be a successful event and managed to reveal tons of games to the Nintendo audience; however, many fans were still left dissatisfied as there was no mention of the release date for the highly anticipated Switch 2.
