Foamstars, the PlayStation equivalent to Nintendo’s Splatoon but with foam, is going free-to-play. Square Enix and Sony made the announcement on Tuesday morning.

that the game will transition to a free-to-play title starting October 4. That’s just eight months since the game’s launch on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

For those who already own Foamstars or pick it up before the game’s price change, Square Enix says it’s launching a “Legacy Gift”. This give will include the following:

• 12 exclusive ******-variant Bubble Beastie skins
• 1 exclusive Slide Board design
• 1 title: “Legacy”

Lastly, with the game going free-to-play, players will no longer need a PlayStation Plus subscription to play online.

“Your continued support of Foamstars would be greatly appreciated,” Square Enix said.
