We Might Not Be Getting a PlayStation Showcase To Reveal the PS5 Pro This Year

The gaming community has been clamoring for a new PlayStation Showcase for the past few months. Amidst the rumors of a mid-generation bump or a new console revision, fans may want to measure their expectations more realistically. Insiders claim something is coming but it is not what fans are asking for.

It is that time of the year for major gaming companies to make some big reveals for the holidays and to close off the year strong. However, not everything these gaming companies put out is what the gaming community is after, and this potentially causes a strain between them.

Sony May Not Be Hosting a Playstation Showcase Next Month After All

The current generation has been interesting, especially now that most game developers finally have a gist of the power and potential of the PlayStation 5. It is an opportune moment for Sony Interactive Entertainment to release a handful of first-party high-quality titles that the platform has been renowned for generations.

Fans have been eager to see ****** Stranding 2: On the Beach and expected director Hideo Kojima to be in attendance at this year’s Gamescom after posting cryptic character posters online. Sony is part of this year’s Tokyo Game Show instead of having an exclusive exhibit featuring upcoming first-party projects which is not good news for fans expecting a dedicated PlayStation Showcase.

There is a strong likelihood that these dates are intended for another State of Play and fans are less than enthusiastic about it. David Jaffe sarcastically praised the content featured during the previous event, and this could be in the same vein for smaller reveals instead of new hardware and updates for highly-anticipated first-party exclusives.

Perhaps this event will kick off the upcoming Tokyo Game Show where Sony saved the best for last. The gaming community has been waiting for something massive from the company but for the most part, nothing of great importance has been shared.

Sony may not have anything to share yet, and fans are tired of hearing whispers and rumors of a PS5 Pro and given the history, there is a high possibility of it existing. The showcase could have been the perfect event to reveal the Pro model to the rest of the world after years of doubting its existence.

The State of Play Could Be an Alternative Event to Officially Reveal the PS5 Pro

Alleged spec sheets of the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro model surfaced online months ago and it is a massive leap from the base model and the Xbox Series X combined. Rumors suggest the PS5 Pro will feature cutting-edge technology that not even powerful PC gaming rigs have yet.

Hopefully, this rumored Pro model could deliver the promise of 8K gaming that the base versions of the PlayStation 5 could not for some reason. Fans were optimistic a showcase would be dedicated to this reveal and it could still happen but not anytime soon.

The gaming community has grown accustomed to a Showcase being a massive event, and their disappointment is valid if the company decides to take it slow. Sony is biding its time for the right moment to make moves.

Perhaps the company will surprise the community with a reveal soon. Time is fleeting and Sony is not in a rush.
