2 rescued from river after canoe flips in Clark County

Two people had to be rescued after their canoes tipped in Clark County Monday night.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11, two canoers called 911 after they were trapped on **** River off Lower Valley Pike due to a downed tree.

Their canoe then tipped.

***** officials said thankfully no one was hurt and was rescued out of the water.

This was not the case in Trotwood Saturday.

A group of friends swimming across Madison Lake got to shore and noticed one of their friends was not with them.

Trotwood ***** crews said they found Luis Fernando Montes Padilla Hondureño’s body in the water Monday.

Crews said the group showed up to the lake to cliff jump and swim.

Two things that Trotwood ***** said are extremely dangerous at Madison Lake.

“I dont know how to stress it enough, do not swim in Madison lakes. Don’t swim here. Again, every year, I stand here and I talk to each and everyone of you about the dangers of Madison Lakes because we just recovered a body of a swimmer that drowned,” Trotwood ***** Department Public Information Officer Ralph Bowman said.

Bowman said there have been talks about making it ******* for people to get into the water at Madison Lake but by doing that, it also makes it ******* for his crews to get to the water when people need help.
