It happened around 8 p.m. Sunday on Sweetwater Drive near Interstate 30 and Ferguson Road.

Jason Cain is in the Dallas County jail on multiple charges, including ******** with a deadly ******* and injury to a child.

Police say a family on a Door Dash delivery turned onto a street where Cain was riding his motorcycle. They swerved to avoid hitting him and honked. Police say he then turned around, pulled out a **** and fired into their car.

A 2-year-old girl who was in the ********* is in the hospital recovering after she was shot.

Two loud pops Sunday night forced Jessica Huseman out of her Far East Dallas home.

“I got over to the car, and it whipped around and then stopped next to me,” she recalled. “And the mom, I assume, jumped out of the passenger side and said, ‘They shot my baby! They shot my baby!'”

Huseman saw the little girl in the ********* covered in blood. She told the family to go straight to the hospital while she called 911.

Soon, dozens of Dallas police squad cars swarmed Huseman’s street.

“The way that mom’s voice sounded really just… is all I can think about,” she said. “And the way that that little baby… she just wasn’t moving, wasn’t crying, and I really thought she was gone.”

According to arrest documents, multiple witnesses told police they saw a motorcycle with a sidecar that had a dog in it following a gray sedan around 8 p.m. They say they saw the motorcyclist pull out a handgun and ***** two shots.

Police say witnesses identified the shooter as 50-year-old Jason Cain, who lives in the neighborhood.

Before witnesses identified him, police say Cain spoke to officers when they got to the scene. He told them that the “***** dealers that were involved in the ********* were down the street.”

It’s the same story Huseman heard from Cain.

“He said, ‘Oh yeah, that was me on the motorcycle. But I don’t think I saw anything,’” she recalled. “And then he told me that there were ‘***** dealers’ that live on the next street, and I think he was attempting to imply that they had done it.”

Detectives interviewed the family. They said they were delivering a DoorDash order when they saw Cain driving without his lights on in the middle of the street. They swerved to avoid him, and the two honked at each other.

The family told police Cain proceeded to follow their car around the neighborhood and shout out at them.

“I didn’t assume that one of my neighbors had shot a baby,” Huseman said.

The police documents detail that when officers arrested Cain at his home, he resisted at first but ultimately complied.

Police say they also obtained video evidence of the *********.

When police searched Cain’s home, they found multiple firearms, including automatic weapons and many satanic and ***** symbols.

“I hope that they do get the justice that they need because that was horrific. That was really horrific,” Huseman said.

Police said the 2-year-old girl is stable, but her condition in the hospital is unknown.

Cain is charged with one count of injury to a child and three counts of aggravated ******** with a deadly *******. His bond hasn’t been set yet.
