Carlton coach Michael Voss was at the Barton Milk Bar in Hawthorn getting coffee when he chased after a teenager in an allegedly stolen car that had flipped.

Voss, a Brownlow medallist known in his playing days with the Brisbane Lions as a hardened midfielder with an unflinching ******* on the ball, reportedly tackled the teen and held him until police arrived.

The cafe confirmed Voss then went back to get his coffee.

An onlooker, who contacted 3AW’s Jacqui Felgate, said they wanted to give Voss “a huge shoutout” for his efforts on Tuesday morning.

“Two guys got out of the car and fled the scene. Without hesitation, Vossy ran after them and performed a citizen’s arrest.”

The cafe owner Mr James Laskie said: “Michael Voss started chasing them, and so I chased after them as well.”

Mr Voss pinned one of the offenders to the ground while waiting for police to arrive but the other is thought to have escaped.

“They went into an apartment block, and it’s pretty hectic, and one of them got away, but he (Voss) grabbed the second guy and had him on the floor,” Mr Laskie said.
