Emergency services had to call for assistance amid chaotic scenes after multiple trucks and their vehicles were been involved in a serious ****** in Queensland.

Two ambulances ended up crashing into each other as they tried to assist after a ****** in the Gladstone Region, with one person seriously injured.

Police say four trucks collided on the Bruce Hwy at Gindoran, near the Granite Creek Forestry Rd intersection, about 1.50 am on Tuesday.

Heavy fog may have been a contributing factor, causing the following trucks to ******.

Three truck drivers were trapped inside their vehicles and had to be freed by emergency services.

Two people have been taken to hospital, one with serious injuries and one with moderate injuries.

Two ambulances which were deployed to attend the collision then also crashed on the Bruce Hwy on the way to the scene.

The paramedics were uninjured.

The Bruce Hwy between **** **** and Miriam Vale is closed in both directions.

Gindoran is located about 110km south of Gladstone and 430km north of Brisbane.
