What’s New in Hunt: Showdown 1896?

Following many years of success, developer Crytek decided it was time to refresh the overall experience in Hunt: Showdown by rebranding the game as Hunt: Showdown 1896. This massive new update includes a fourth map, additional weapons and equipment, weekly challenges, and core gameplay improvements. Here’s everything new in Hunt Showdown 1896!

The massive relaunch for Hunt: Showdown 1896 is now available on Steam, and it’s a whopping update requiring an over 55 GB download. But it contains so many changes and improvements that, especially if you’re a long-time player, make a difference!

Overall, the new content update is proving rather contentious. As of this writing, the game’s review score has dropped to ‘Mixed,’ with many clamoring to show their disdain for the new UI. If you already own the game, well, it’s a free update. It’s worth a try!

Is Hunt: Showdown 1896 Available on Console?

Yes, you can download and play Hunt: Showdown 1896 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, as we’ve previously reported, the game will not work on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One following this massive content update.

If you’ve previously played the game on the last-gen systems, it appears you’ll have to upgrade to the current-gen systems to continue playing the game, which is a massive expense most are unlikely to pursue.
